Jake, a current Year 13 student and Grade 8 Tenor Horn player, plays locally with Peterlee Brass Band and has played with famous bands such as the Reg Vardy Band and Grimethorpe Band. He has won local soloist competitions numerous times recently played for Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of County Durham at her annual dinner. Next year, Jake has secured and is taking up a place at The Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff. He one day hopes to have a career in a professional Brass Band.

William Hartley (left)
Will left EMS6 last year with three A Levels (A,B,B). He has undertaken a gap year to develop his performance skills. Will has a a Grade 8 in both Piano and Bassoon. He plays principal bassoon with Tees Valley Youth Orchestra and plays with the Young Sinfonia, based at Sage, Gateshead. Next year, William is taking up a place at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and hopes to have a career as a bassoonist in a professional orchestra.
