During the summer term Year 10 students participate in careers fortnight. This is an essential part of their information gathering, research, planning and personal skill development needed for their transition into further education or apprenticeship at the end of Year 11.
As our normal activities are not possible we have sourced alternatives, so that your child is not disadvantaged in any way in their personal development and next step preparations.
We have consolidated alternative resources and put this in a presentation which will be available on the Y10 Careers Team platform and you can also view here.
Whilst we appreciate that these activities are not as beneficial as the real events, they are useful, and we plan to bridge any gaps in the next academic year.
I ask that you encourage your child to participate in all of the activities so that they are at the same stage of knowledge, understanding and preparation as other Year 10’s in previous years at this stage.
For your information, the careers fortnight includes:
College Taster Experience (6th form and FE experience)
Work Experience (students opt in)
Please note that your child will have to register with ‘Barclays life skills’ to complete some of these activities (this is free to register): https://barclayslifeskills.com/sign-in/young-person/?returnUrl=/i-want-to-prepare-for-an-interview/sixth-form/virtual-interview
We have also included parent resources to support you with guidance in your child’s career choices.
If you have any queries, or wish to discuss this further, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
