Welcome to Stranded Island Songs. Based on the popular Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs, every fortnight Mr Morrison asks his fellow colleagues to take on the difficult task of picking eight songs, a book and a luxury item to take with them when they are stranded on an island.

Mr Morrison’s castaway for episode four is Art Teacher, Mr Carless.

Mr Carless joined the school as an Art technician in 2000 before following in his father’s footsteps and training to become an Art teacher in 2003.

His art work and photography can be seen all over the school with many of his photos lining the corridors of EMS from various events throughout the years.

He was a key part of bringing Digital Art into the art department, with students now learning and drawing on a suite of iPads.  Mr Carless is renowned for his digital portraits, spending his personal time doing sketches for people and a lot of artwork for his beloved Hartlepool United.  He also creates a digital portrait of our Awards night guests, keeping up the tradition his father started.  Both sets of work i’m sure you’ve seen in the foyer in St. Anne’s building.

All round great guy and known by many from his teaching years and now we find out a bit more as he takes part in Stranded Island Songs.
