Whilst students are absent from school self-isolating they can still be getting on with their school work.  Most of our departments now have a lot of resources built up in Microsoft Teams, a platform which can be accessed via computer, tablet or phone.  More instructions on how to log into Microsoft Teams can be found here.

Below is a guide to what students should learning in lessons in each of their subjects over the next three weeks and the allotted time they should spend on each subject.  Some of it will rely on using Teams, GCSE Pod and some will be a more independent study.

Below is a list of the core subjects that everyone takes in Year 11.

RE Recommended Reading for A Level

Core PE Week 4 Videos

Use the following videos to practice throwing and catching in the garden plus speed training ready for cricket, rounders and athletics season!

Core PE Week 5 & 6 Videos

Students need to have a look at these links over week 5 and 6 and practice in the garden/yard/back alley where possible. When we return to school our lessons will be focused on striking and fielding, and athletics. So if you practice now you won’t fall behind. If students don’t have access to outdoor space at home some of these can be performed as shortened versions inside (obviously don’t actually throw the ball for shot put and javelin)! You should have been working on throwing and catching during week 4 (first week back after Easter) plus having a go at the link working on speed at least twice.

In addition, use your one hour of exercise a day wisely. Go for a jog or a brisk walk as often as possible. There are many other links on YouTube to help you keep going over this period. Remember if you don’t use it you lose it!!

We will also post these plus any other relevant skills on our Facebook page! (EMS PE Department)

Then do the work from the Option subjects you take.

Reading
Don’t forget, you can always fill in time with a good reading book. We have an extensive Recommended Reading List on the website, all grouped by age.

Exercise
If you are going to be in isolation in your home for a period of time it is important to keep active as much as possible to keep those muscles moving.  Our PE Dept has a couple of links on their Facebook page, however, there are loads of videos of Just Dance and Exercise Routine videos on Youtube which can be a fun aid to keep moving.
