A couple of weeks ago, Miss Hunt, from our Technology department put her skills to the test and, using some of the sheet materials lying around in the storeroom, started creating visors which can be used as vital PPE equipment for NHS staff in our area.

When we last caught up with her she had made and delivered 450 to NHS services, today, that total reached the dizzy heights of 3000.

Using our state of the art laser cutter, the head bands have been cut from Polypropylene sheets. The visors were then completed by hand, adding the protective film mask element, made from a similar material that teachers would have drawn on on their OHPs in days gone by.

What started as a small project, has led to the sourcing of sheet materials to create more. Some companies have even delivered sheet materials for Steff to create the equipment for them.

To date, the visors have been donated all over the UK with Steff getting requests from struggling services all over the country.

Steff’s services have now started being mirrored by other members of the Technology department as they continue making Scrub Bags.  More on this story here.

From everyone at The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, thank you firstly to Miss Hunt for her continued hard work and dedication. Thank you to all the key workers out there working round the clock.

Stay Safe and God Bless you all.
