‘Sweet Treat for Charity’
Tea, Coffee and Cake was the order of the day at The English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College as they invited Parents and Carers of their new intake of Year 7 students to a Coffee Morning to raise money for the Alan Shearer Foundation.
The Coffee Morning, which was held in the main school hall on Friday 28th September, was run by student representatives from each house under the watchful eye of the house leaders.
Staff and students at EMS are assigned to Houses where students compete in various competitions and activities throughout the year for House Points.
In previous years, each house had a nominated charity, however, this year all five houses are raising money for the same charity in which the student council at EMS chose the Alan Shearer Foundation as the beneficiary.
The coffee morning was a huge success and we raised a total of £523.29.
Adam Corcoran, Leader for St. Thomas More House said: “On behalf of all the House Leaders I would like to thank the students, staff, parents and carers who supported the coffee morning.”
“It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome families of Year 7 students to the community of English Martyrs and I am overwhelmed by their generosity.”
