Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to invite you to our Year 8 Parents’ Information Evening, which this year will be held on Thursday, 6th December, commencing at 6.00pm in St Anne’s Hall.  As a parent, you will be aware of the regularity of changes in education and whilst many of the basics remain the same it is an opportunity for us to keep you up to date with the requirements and expectations as we work together to maximise the success of all our students.  We did do a similar presentation last year, so you may feel you have no further queries.  You are very welcome to come along again and also there may be some parents who could not make it last year.  Either way, the session is a chance to come in and ask us any questions that you may have.  There is a Parents’ Evening again in the Spring Term (April 2019).

Our chances of helping them to succeed will be greatly enhanced by a strong partnership with parents and carers where everyone is aware of how we can best assist our young people.  The partnership is always at its best when all parties have a solid level of awareness of responsibilities and where good communication exists.

The School and Sixth Form College again recorded excellent results this summer.  We continue to be well above local and national averages on the DfE performance tables and our Progress 8 Value-Added score is the best it has been in years.  The results have improved on all measures compared to 2017 with the students collectively achieving a total of 50 grade 9s (or A** in the old grading system) and more than 1 in 5 of the total grades awarded were grade 7-9 (or A – A* in previous years).

At EMS6, there were yet again some amazing results.  The overall pass rate at A Level was 99% across all 28 subjects offering examinations with 25 securing a pass rate of 100%.  The number of students gaining an A**-C grade was 72%.

This success comes about by working together.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your support this year and look forward to seeing you on the night.

Yours faithfully
