Dear Y10 Parent/Carer,
I would like to make you aware of our up and coming Y10 Careers events. These events have been arranged to support your child’s careers research, planning and preparations.
Access to impartial careers information, direct knowledge of the different pathways, options and access to employers are an essential part of research. As a result we have arranged the following activities and events:
MONDAY 9th July Further Education (FE) Experience at HCFE
This day allows students to experience what an FE college is like. The differences on how the subjects are delivered and the facilities available.
Students are NOT expected to wear school uniform for this day. They will be transported from English Martyrs to HCFE in the morning. They should bring a packed lunch as they will remain in college for the full day.
At the end of the FE experience students will be dismissed directly from HCFE. Transport will be provided for anyone who wishes to return to school. Any student who requires transport must see Mr Blackwood or Mrs Liddell-Fisher prior to the FE experience day or email school on firstname.lastname@example.org, so we can finalise numbers. Otherwise we expect students to make their own way home from the FE College.
TUESDAY 10th – FRIDAY 13th July Individual Mock Interview with a Business Ambassador
Students get to see what an interview is like, how to act and how to answer interview questions thoroughly and concisely. The interviews take place in our 6th form offices and we have waiting rooms and a receptionist to greet students to keep the experience as authentic as possible. This supportive experience allows students to practice their answers and interview techniques.
MONDAY 16th July Employers Fair
Students meet a variety of different employers from different sectors. They find out more about the sector, careers and entry routes into those careers, and have the opportunity to ask questions and make business contacts with the employers.
WEDNESDAY 18th July 6th Form Experience at EMS6
This day allows students to experience what it is like to study A-level at a 6th Form. The different subjects available and how A-levels are delivered and get a taste of college life. This ensures that students can make direct comparisons between the two different college pathways and make an informed choice in Y11.
Students are NOT expected to be in school uniform for this day.
If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
