Our ICT department are offering a fabulous new extra curricular course for students in Year 7-10. At present, around three hundred students in school are currently undertaking the Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA Award).
The aim is to develop digital and enterprise skills and showcase individuals’ achievements to future employers. It aims to spark the interest and imagination of young people and equips them with the skills to be digital workers, makers, entrepreneurs, gamers and citizens of the future.
Students take part in a series of online challenges in order to achieve the Bronze and Silver awards. For each challenge they complete, they earn badges and the more badges they earn, the closer they get to achieve the awards. The award comes directly from Buckingham Palace on behalf of HRH Prince Andrew Duke of York.
Congratulations to Aidan Wilkinson, Matthew Tyson, Benjamin Sayer, Millie Hayes, Matthew Ferguson and Liam Cooper who are the first students to achieve their Bronze awards with further congratulations to Millie who is the first and only student so far to collect her Silver award.
Mr. McLintock congratulated the students saying: “I am extremely proud of all students who have volunteered to take part in the iDEA award. It is a great achievement that these students have achieved their awards in such a short period of time. They have worked extremely hard and should be very pleased with themselves. Hopefully many more students will be at that same level very soon.”
If any students would like to take part in the award then please see Mr. McLintock who will be able to tell you more about it.
