I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for Year 13 as they near the end of their time with us at English Martyrs.
Leavers’ Mass – Friday 25th May 2018
This is a wonderful occasion where we celebrate the students’ time here with us. Some students are involved in examinations throughout the morning but all other students will be in lessons from periods 1 through to 4. If students wish to change for the Mass into appropriate clothing there will be private rooms available for this. The Mass will begin at 1.00 pm and last approximately 1 hour. At 2.30 pm a whole year group photograph will be taken in the Sixth Form Foyer.
Leavers’ Dinner – Friday 6th July 2018
This is another chance to celebrate all of the fantastic achievements of the students throughout their time at English Martyrs and it is always a great occasion. Students have until 18th May to pay for their ticket. This will be held at The Stadium of Light in Sunderland. A bus is available to take students to and from the venue at £5.00 charge but names must be given to Mrs S Brown in advance. The bus leaves college at 6.45pm. The evening will begin at 7.30pm and finish at approximately 11.00pm.
Continuation of Lessons
Year 13 lessons will continue with their subject teachers until students have taken the final exam in that subject. We want to maximise the time students have with specialised staff and will expect all students to continue to attend all lessons after May half term.
Can I take this opportunity remind students of exam protocol for the upcoming exams. Students must wear their student lanyards for all examinations as proof of identity. They are also reminded that no bags/mobile phones or coats/jackets are to be taken to the examination hall. If for whatever reason a student is unable to make an exam, contact needs to be made to College at your earliest possible convenience.
A Level Results Day – Thursday 16th August 2018
Year 13 students can collect their results from 8.30am. Staff will be on hand to assist with checking university offers, accessing ‘Clearing’ or supporting with anything else that the students may need. If students cannot collect their results in person, there are a number of options. They can bring in a stamped addressed envelope, have them emailed to nominate someone to collect the results on their behalf – the last 2 options require a form to be completed and this can be collected from our Examination Officer, Mrs Diane Rutherford.
If you have any questions or queries, please get in touch.
And finally, can I take this opportunity to congratulate and that your son/daughter for their hard work and commitment over the past two years. It has been an absolute pleasure being their Head of Year and watching them grow and develop into the young adults they are today. I wish them every success in the next chapter of their lives.
Mr L Nicholson
