On Tuesday 23rd October we held a House Stars in their Eyes competition for students.  Based on the 90’s TV show, we gave students the opportunity to utter those famous words…Tonight, I’m going to be…

We had 10 student acts taking off artists such as Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran and Freddy Mercury.  As per usual, this opportunity couldn’t go amiss from the staff either.

Thomas More staff laid down the gauntlet with a Hai, sí, ja! Hold tight! – No guesses who they ‘wannabe’.

Then Mr Dickson joined in for his debut on St. Anne’s stage as Rod Stewart before Mr Hodgson and Mrs Spears created a rumble as Ant & Dec (or PJ & Duncan for those of us old enough to remember).

The overall winner of the audience vote was Malachy Hammond who had the whole room clapping on that catchy chorus of Radio Ga Ga as he impersonated the late Freddy Mercury with PJ and Duncan picking up the staff prize.

No house points were on offer for this competition, just a great night of fun and a huge tuck shop to raise money for this years solo house charity The Alan Shearer Foundation.  The evening raised a fantastic £270.

Well done to all involved and all the students who took part.  It was a fabulous night!
