On Tuesday 28th November 2017 students took part in our House Advent Wreath Making Competition.
Following on from the success of last years’ competition, another five groups of students, one from each house, rolled up their sleeves and dived into the task. They were given just forty five minutes to create their advents wreaths whilst competing for precious House points.
House points are awarded throughout the year for various competitions, events and for core school achievements such as Attendance. You can read more about House Points, how they are awarded and the current totals here.
After 45 minutes of cutting, shaping, snipping and glitter flying everywhere our five wreaths were complete and ready to be judged by Father Michael and our school chaplain Anne-Marie while our students took a well earned break. The five finished wreaths are below….Who is your winner? Results below!
After Father Michael blessed the wreaths and spoke warmly to the students it was time for Mr. Morrison to reveal the results.
In this year’s competition first place was awarded to St. Margaret Clitherow, beating last years winners St. John Boste into 2nd. Next came St. Anne Line in 3rd place, St. Thomas More in 4th with Blessed John Ingram in 5th.
The finished wreaths are now displayed in various locations around school with first place taking pride of place in St. Anne’s Hall where it will be lit as part of the Advent assemblies over the coming weeks.
All of the students who took part really enjoyed the competition and we look forward to doing it all again next year.
