Dear Parent/Guardian,

I have great pleasure in announcing that The English Martyrs Chaplaincy Department invite your son/daughter to the hugely popular Ampleforth Retreat departing  Friday 22nd March at 3.30pm and returning Sunday 24th March at 2.30 pm.

The cost of the trip is provisionally £40.00 which includes accommodation, food, transport and activities.

There are a maximum of 45 places available and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Students who are not initially selected will be listed as reserves. 

We ask that all payments are paid through the Parent Pay system as this reduces the risk for students bringing large amounts of cash into school. You can log into Parent Pay at www.parentpay.com using your unique login and password. If you have any problems with Parent Pay, please contact our Finance Director at stait@ems.hartlepool.sch.uk for help, making sure you include your child’s name, D.O.B and form group in the email.

Places are available to ALL students from Year 7-13. Reservation of a place on this trip is dependent upon the continued good behaviour and attitude of your child. Due to the nature of the trip and safety regulations, only students who can be trusted to behave impeccably will be allowed to go.

If you wish your child to be considered, please complete and submit the reply slip below by Friday 8th February 2019.  The Non-refundable amount of £40.00 will be required to secure your place and is to be paid via the Parent Pay system. Please do not send the money into school with your son/daughter.

When you submit the reply slip below the information will be sent to us, we will process and add your child to the trip in Parent Pay.  Please allow 24 hours for this to happen, longer if it is a weekend.

If your child is successful in gaining a place, but then has to withdraw, any money paid can only be returned if this is due to exceptional circumstances or his/her place is filled by another student.

Parents who can prove they are in receipt of the following benefits will be exempt from paying the cost of board and lodgings for educational trips within the school term:

  • Income Support;
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance;
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
  • Child Tax Credit, provided that Working Tax Credit is not also received and the family’s income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,190.
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
